Key Responsibilities:

  • Minimize production interruption by resolving supplier quality issues with 8D process including activities including troubleshooting, containment and sorting as needed.
  • Manage supplier Concern and Complaint Management (CCM) process and ensure effective corrective actions been implemented to prevent future issues.
  • Support GKN change management approval process for changes to product specification, manufacturing processes, or/and locations related to the supplier. Ensure adequate internal controls, including PPAP approval where required, to manage all potential associated risks. 
  • Develop and manage a supplier monitoring system (scorecard) to objectively measure overall performance. Challenge suppliers to continuously improve to meet targets.
  • Proactively manage supplier’s performance by conducting supplier formal assessment and process audits and ensure GKN and IATF/ TS requirement are met
  • Ensure Problem Solving with external suppliers follows appropriate GKN & customer problem solving processes.
  • Undertake training when identified to improve business capability and allow for changes in technology and quality requirements. Continuously improve supplier quality sub function.
  • Responsible for communicating when there is an issue affecting the Environment, Health, Safety or Quality to his / her respective Manager

Detailed Description

Qualification and skills:

Bachelor's degree in engineering, Science, Technology or equivalent  

Desirable:

3+ years of manufacturing or quality engineering related experience

 

Specific Functional Competencies, Knowledge and Skills Required 

              Effective written and verbal communication skills
•             Formal problem-solving skills (5WHYs, 8D, fishbone, PPS, etc)
•             Experience with core quality tools, including SPC, APQP, and PPAP.

 

Desirable 

Technical
•             Experience and knowledge in metallurgy, forging or machined casting is strongly desired
•             Interpretation of drawings and technical specifications (including GD&T) is strongly desired
•             Bearing manufacturing knowledge and experience
•             Experience with quality processes such as FMEA and PFMEA
•             Experience/training with IATF 16949 or ISO systems
•             Lean Principles, Continuous Improvement, or Six Sigma training
•             Supplier or Purchasing environment experience
