Detailed Description

What’s the role about?

GKN Automotive is creating a Payroll Shared Service team in its Porto office. Initially supporting the payrolls for EMEA, with other countries expected to move into the team over time.

This role will directly have responsibility for French Payroll which is processed as a managed service with our Payroll partner and could also be expected to cover other EMEA payrolls when needed. The role will involve supporting end to end payroll administration, working with the business and the partner to ensure accurate and timely payrolls on a monthly basis. Working with the team to establish documented procedures for the newly set up processing team which can be applied to future integrations. 

What you'll do?

  • End to end monthly payroll processing including input delivery, output and audit checks;
  • Collation of data to be provided timely to the Payroll partner at agreed cut off dates for processing;
  • Working through a full set of monthly checks, gross to gross, net to net, understanding and resolving discrepancies and justifying differences;
  • Managing post payroll activities including any local statutory filing and payment reconciliations;
  • Works with the Local French team to ensure data is delivered accurately and on time to the Payroll Provider;
  • Responding to employee questions and resolving queries and issues in a professional and timely manner;
  • Support report requests from HR partners, managers, and Finance to ensure they have the correct data to complete necessary downstream tasks;
  • Working with internal and external audit teams as needed;
  • Develop good internal and external relationships with key stakeholders;
  • Use initiative to solve problems on a daily basis and to generate new and innovative ways of meeting and exceeding customer needs;
  • Provide fast and responsive support for “emergency” situations that may arise;
  • Work on the development of the Oracle integration to the Payroll partner software;
  • Drive enhancement in the current processes to ensure optimum delivery and customer service;
  • To take initiative and make decisions as required to improve the Payroll offerings to our customers.

What are we looking for?

  • Strong familiarity with French payroll legislation;
  • Experience handling monthly payroll related filings (DSN and others);
  • Experience in liaising with the Tax and Social Security agencies;
  • Experience of working in a Payroll managed service environment;
  • Good knowledge of cyclical Payroll processing including the ability to work to deadlines with total accuracy;
  • Experience of managing priorities in a busy environment;
  • Experience in the following areas:  Payroll, Excel, MS SharePoint & Teams;
  • Experience of working with stakeholders in different countries;
  • Experience of managing projects and initiatives with successful results;
  • Ability to analyse complex data sets for gaps, inconsistency and errors;
  • Analytical ability, as evidenced by the proven ability to interpret data in lay language;
  • An ability to question & challenge in a constructive way;
  • Must exhibit strong security and confidentiality practices;
  • Ability to make good and timely decisions that better help the HRSS team serve their customers;
  • University Degree or equivalent;
  • Minimum 2+ years’ experience of French payroll processing;
  • Fluency in verbal and written French and English.
