Job Summary

Job Description

The primary job function is to properly reflect customer demand through production volumes within GKN planning systems (SIOP, MPS scheduling, ERP/MRP) in support of purchasing part planning, short term production smoothing and long-term capacity planning.

The Master Scheduler will interact with all 4 GKN US CVJ production facilities and support the MPS and SIOP processes in all facilities.  This position also has key input to the monthly sales outlook planning process.

Detailed Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and implement system and process improvements within the supply chain to enable overall business process improvement
  • Further develop existing forecast and supply programs to improve current days of inventory and cash cycle
  • Improve forecasting tools and procedures through application of innovative ideas and projects
  • Analyze inventory levels and product demands to determine reorder levels and safety stocks that will ensure product availability and minimize inventory costs
  • Drive, promote and develop positive communication with Production, Supply Chain and Commercial to improve forecast accuracy.
  • Constantly develop methods for KPI improvement (Stock Turns, Premium Freight, Supplier DSA, Customer DSA, Customer Past Due, Supplier Past Due)
  • Promote the GKN values.
  • Work with user community and IT to develop and refine system tools to support efficient and robust planning processes.

Routine Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Forecast, master schedule and procurement plan based on history, schedule variation and new product launch
  • Review and update forecast, production schedules and material requirements.
  • Support new product development through cooperative scheduling of model introductions, end of life and prototype processing with the potential suppliers
  • Proactively review material supply and demand to determine push/pull actions appropriate to
  • impact manufacturing MPS and supply MRP exception messages.
  • Support new product introductions, including review of new BOM’s and Start of Production dates for build verification and production units.
  • Assist in the resolution of MRP and planning discrepancies.

 

Formal qualifications required:  Bachelors’ degree in Supply Chain Mgmt/Procurement/Logistics, Business or related field or equivalent experience is required, CPIM preferred.

Previous experience required: 

  • 7+ years of diverse Supply Chain / Procurement experience, including a proven ability to succeed in a matrix work structure.
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate and influence leaders and front-line employees in change management initiatives, and behavior change.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrate the ability to quickly establish effective working relationships and credibility with all levels of the internal organization and external client organizations
  • Demonstrated balance between appropriate levels of customer service and running a lean, cost-efficient organization
  • Excellent organizational, project management, problem solving and decision-making skills and a high degree of sound judgment and common sense.
  • Experienced with ERP/MRP planning systems (QAD Preferred).  Fluent in use of Excel as an analytical tool.  Experience with Inventory analysis tools preferred.
  • Technology-savvy to leverage existing MPS and SIOP tools
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced, goal-oriented, and time-sensitive environment
