Desirable
Bachelor Degree in Industrial Hygiene, Health, Safety, Environmental, Chemical Engineering or related field
Professional certification in safety (CSP) or industrial hygiene (CIH) preferred APICS CPIM/CSCP
Specific Function capabilities, knowledge and skills required Strong interpersonal skills with excellent written and verbal communication skills. organization skills with ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Strong leadership skills and able to function independently. In depth knowledge of Federal, State, Local laws, regulations and Standards regarding the Environment, Health and Safety. Must be able to clearly and succinctly communicate, market and sell practical EH&S solutions to all levels of company/business/regional and facility personnel. Must be flexible and creative in developing solutions that deliver results. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and related computer programs. Willing to work off shifts when necessary or take phone calls / meetings on an off shift. 

• Drive change through others, maintain and promote a safety conscious culture.
• Manage accident / incident cases as well as corrective / preventive action and reporting.
• Manage and maintain Accident Rate Statistics and report results to the management team.
• Maintain ISO 14001 and ISO 45000 compliance and implement improvements within the facility.
• Identify and anticipate environmental, health, safety concerns / hazards and implement solutions.
• Conduct internal safety/ environmental audits and inspections to monitor effectiveness.
• Maintain HSE information systems on the intranet and network.
• Complete and submit reports to both Corporate and legal entities as required and conduct required legal reviews.
• Lead the plant Committee.
• Review and dispose of all materials / chemicals submitted for use within the facility according to internal procedures and legal requirements.
• Conduct HSE related training of associates and management to ensure compliance with legal, system and customer requirements.
• Maintain appropriate records as required by legal and company directives.
• Maintain communications with company insurance providers to manage cost of  

• Maintain communications with medical providers as necessary to assist with cost containment under workers compensation program, while maintaining confidentiality.
• Coordinate medical treatment of workers compensation injuries through approved providers. Prepare annual HSE Department budget preparation.
• Provide guidance to Management regarding HSE related issues, while acting as the subject matter expert in such areas.
• Understand and help manage the facilities Wastewater Treatment department, as well as prepare and submit facility required environmental reports (i.e. Tier II, SARA 313, SPCC, SWPPP)
• Responsible for recycling program and zero waste to landfill.
• Conduct Internal HSE/ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 audits at other GKN sites.
